View and Control Your Survey Remotely

Over the last couple of years, we have found that Clients are experiencing increased difficulty in sparing key personnel to attend sites to view a live survey, and this is exacerbated when a site is remote and has difficult access.

At the same time, the range of services that we provide have become increasingly technical, and we work with specialist partnering companies to monitor and interpret data from our Lidar, Pipe Penetrating Radar (PPR) and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) systems.

To minimise the number of site attendances required, we developed a system that enables the live data from our Surface Control Unit (SCU), to be streamed directly to your consulting engineer’s computer (or our technicians), which combined with a mobile phone link to our survey operative gives them full control over the content of the live survey from the comfort of their desk.

The system was tried, tested and proven successful in the field during the survey of a 2km long, 4m diameter trunk sewer in Hull. All under the watchful eye and instruction of a consulting engineer working for our client MMB.

More recently, a Client in Canada was able to view live and assess the condition of a 4.2km desalination plant outlet pipe that we were surveying in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

We chose to use your company because in pre-contract discussions you clearly demonstrated that you already had or could adapt existing bespoke kit to use for our challenging survey. We needed our structural engineer to view the survey footage in real time so that he could ask the ROV to be stopped to get a better inspection of a feature or defect. He was based in the south-east and travelling to Hull to sit in the survey van for hours at a time during a time of covid lockdowns was not really the right approach. Your team devised a way for him to view the live footage by streaming it over the internet so that he could ask the operator to stop or zoom, or whatever at any time. There were also obvious budget efficiencies with this approach too. We would certainly consider the “live streaming” approach again on future projects. It is particularly useful where we need input / analysis / opinion of technical experts, whose time invariably is spread thin over numerous projects and therefore have difficulty committing large swathes of time to one particular project. The actual survey team were great. Their attention to health and safety, rising to technical challenges, accommodating requests for improvements in quality, re-surveying stretches where there was a doubt with the data was all very impressive and meant that we completed the survey on time and within budget.
