Upon completion of the PPR works, we modified one of our long-range crawlers to house and control a LiDAR head to facilitate the precise measuring of individual pipe sections to assess sequential alignment and measure for ovality.
The remit was to identify if there was deflection exceeding 1 degree between each of the GRP liner sections for the total length of the pipe.
To do this an incredibly accurate 3D model of the water main was produced using a high-definition LiDAR scanner. Each section required manual interpretation of the recovered data to determine the precise angle of deflection in both the horizontal and vertical plane.
